I just had to delete a comment, left by some anonymous person, which included a link to porn site. I apologize if anyone unwittingly clicked on the link. (Although perhaps Dad's anti-phishing training means that everyone hovered over the link and saw that it was not something familiar and so didn't follow it. I can only hope!)
I hate people who do that. Hate hate hate. I know I should rise above it, but it just makes me angry.

I did click on the link. Dumb, I know. I was going to send you an email about it, but forgot.
Try not to take it personally. Chances are, it wasn't really a "person" but a shark program swimming around just putting that stuff wherever it can! (I'm trying to think of a better metaphor, maybe an evil cow, waiting to put poo wherever it can!)
Sorry that it bled onto your blog.
What a bummer.
Do you know you can disable anonymous comments?
Go to Customize, the the Settings tab, then the Comments tab. Select "Users with Google accounts".
:)
Oh, Aha! I see you found another way to stop the stupidity!
(I didn't know about 'comment moderation'!)
Thanks for the tip!
:)
Yes, I like the moderate comments feature better than just allow users with Google accounts, because I know at least one of my four (maybe five) readers doesn't have a google account, or at least doesn't log into it to read the blog.
But yes, it is partly my own fault for not having comment moderation on in the first place. I didn't expect anyone who actually read the blog (i.e. family) would leave comments that I didn't want, so it wouldn't be necessary. But of course didn't think about spam programs that do it automatically. The thing that drove me more crazy is that the person/program posted the SAME link to this blog posting...so included a spam link to the posting about how I hate spam links. Groan.
Yes, but you have to appreciate the stupid irony of that!
Yes...I like a spam program with a sense of humor...
