Looking for opinions - charcoal grills

Mark and I are in the market for a BBQ grill, now that we have some place outside to put it. Although it would be nice to have the convenience of gas, I think we want to go with charcoal for the flavor. Plus I think I might try smoking meat some time - I found a place here in the UK that sells wood chips, including hickory and others.

But I'm having a hard time deciding what shape to get.

So far the ones I like are:

Weber Traditional (everyone seems to love it; it has a lid; you can buy lots of accessories to go with it; maybe a bit more expensive because of brand - not sure if that's worth it?; no adjustable grill levels, but does have the air vents to regulate temperature; pretty easy to clean, I think)

Barbecook basic or master (it's a Belgian brand, but looks really convenient to use; and it looks pretty; but I'd either have to have smaller cooking space, or it's a bit more expensive; it doesn't have a lid, but it does have adjustable grill levels; really easy to clean; but do Belgians really know about grilling, I mean, really?)

Kingsford bullet smoker (it's a smoker, but can be used as a grill as well; I guess would be better if I was going to smoke more than grill)

Non-brand barrel shape (cheapest option; has lots and lots of grill shape; can either use the lid or not; doesn't have adjustable grill levels and I'm not sure if it has air vents; more difficult to clean)

What kind of grill does everyone have? Do you like it? Thoughts?

Clearly the Belgians are amateurs - too much style, not enough substance on that one. Prolly only works for grilling caviar or other snooty foods.

We've owned options 1 & 4 before, but both are long gone. In their place, we have this one...

So do y'all not grill outside at all?

We have a George Foreman, too - but we don't use it that much. I guess I need to work on that, as well. Our burgers don't seem to come out right with it, but maybe I just haven't had enough practice.

Yes, my ideal situation would be of course to have a smaller gas grill, and then probably a kettle or barrel charcoal grill. Then we can grill quickly when we want, but then also have the option to smoke things, and all that when we want and have more time. But that does seem a bit extravagant...

I know - I've looked at the Big Green Egg, and they look fantastic. Nice to know that you own one, so I have an expert to hand.

There seems to be only one distributor for the UK and I start to get worried when no one lists prices online...one source said that it cost them about $2000 to get the BGE to the UK (though I don't know which size they bought, so it could have been the XL, which we wouldn't need). I think that's probably because of the weight, so it's not easy to distribute from the US base? The other thing is that we don't know how long we're going to stay in one place, so I don't know if I want to commit yet to having a 500 pound BBQ to move around!

But I think a BGE is definitely in my future at some point - everyone really does seem to swear by them.
