The day of Ada's actual first birthday was a bit uneventful. It was a Friday and Mark had to go up to London in the afternoon/evening, so Ada went to daycare and Mark and I both worked. But since Ada doesn't really know what is going on yet, I don't think she minded. (A friend at work when I said that it was Ada's birthday said, "why are you here?" but I think on reflection she realized that Ada probably wasn't holding a grudge.)
But I did take a few photographs to mark the day (and you can see she is wearing a hand-me-down cupcake shirt that came to us just in time - thank you, Smiths!).
