Daily Ada: 23 October 13: "new" pajamas!

Ada picked out her own pajamas tonight and she went straight for the hand-me-down ones from cousin Danielle. She's never worn this style before (or worn bottoms to bed since she's always in her sleeping bag) but she was insistent about putting them on. She immediately ran down the hall to look at herself in the mirror and when I suggested we take some photographs she readily obliged!

Thank you, Smiths!

(This was obviously pre bedtime, so the lights were low - the pictures are a bit grainy as a result. I included a couple blurry action shots to show what a ham she is).

Oh, so that's where those went. Very snuggly.

Hooray!! Naomi and Danielle were super happy to see Ada wearing 'em. (after the spent a couple minutes bickering over who's pj's they were!)

Hope she sleeps well in pants.

Sorry to have caused conflict - I only remember Danielle wearing them!

Update from this morning:
The night was fine - so pant wearing seems to be OK. And so far she is refusing to take them off! We're going out in a little while so we'll see if she insists on wearing them to Puxton Park!

How great are hand-me-down pj's!
Christopher wore his pj's all day yesterday, so Ada is in good company.

Yes. C wore a pajama shirt to school every day that he was in the two-year-old class at his old schoo. We used the new school to coax him into a real shirt. He still occasionally asks to wear a pajama shirt to school.
It's a sensitive issue in our house, because Tony has to look at 20-somethings who wear pajama tops and bottoms to classes... In two-year-olds it's cute, not so much when you are confronted with a room full of lazy college students who barely bothered to roll out of bed before coming to class...

Yes, I can see our pjs-in-public phase close on the horizon.

I have a vague memory of being on both sides of the adult pjs conflict as I think perhaps my generation was one of the first where standards had started to slip so low as to allow pjs. Maybe not the first. But then teaching a required freshman English class means you do get to see a lot as well. Maybe Tony should wear his pjs to class. Or send Christopher to teach it.

But it's funny you mention it because one of the Slate podcasts I listen to just had a discussion about this very subject, on the back if the fact that some fashion designers actually had pajamas on the runway in their recent shows.
